Expanding manufacturing automation with in-house humanoid robot technology
HDC cobot series and welding automation solutions to address diverse industrial needs
HD Hyundai Robotics will participate in the 15th Daegu International Robot Industry Exhibition (ROBEX 2026), held from October 21 to 24 at EXCO in Daegu, South Korea, where it will unveil its in-house developed Intelligent Dual-Arm Robot and showcase physical AI-based manufacturing automation technologies and next-generation robotic solutions.
At the exhibition, the company will present humanoid technology designed to extend automation to manual tasks that have traditionally been difficult to automate, alongside a range of automation solutions based on industrial robots and collaborative robots (cobots). In particular, HD Hyundai Robotics will highlight its physical AI strategy for manufacturing, using the Intelligent Dual-Arm Robot as a platform to learn and validate task intelligence and extend it to its existing robot portfolio.
The Intelligent Dual-Arm Robot, the centerpiece of the exhibition, is a physical AI-based humanoid robot featuring a human-like upper-body structure with two arms and five-fingered hands. Designed to expand automation into tasks that conventional robots have difficulty performing, the robot adopts an upper-body configuration that prioritizes precise manipulation with its arms and hands over mobility.
The robot is equipped with the company's proprietary Robot Foundation Model (RFM), which enables it to perceive its surroundings and generate appropriate actions. The technology is being developed to allow the robot to understand and perform tasks without requiring operators to program every step and position individually. HD Hyundai Robotics also plans to enhance its manipulation capabilities by leveraging force and tactile sensing technologies to detect contact with objects more precisely.
HD Hyundai Robotics plans to initially apply the Intelligent Dual-Arm Robot to kitting processes, which involve organizing and preparing components for assembly, before expanding its applications to other manufacturing processes, including welding and painting. The company intends to use the robot as a platform for learning and validating human-like task intelligence while applying the intelligence developed through this process to its existing industrial and collaborative robots, thereby broadening the scope of manufacturing automation. Mobility capabilities will also be expanded in stages, beginning with integration with a wheeled mobile platform, with bipedal walking technology planned as a longer-term development goal.
The company will also showcase its next-generation HDC cobot series, designed to handle high-payload applications, along with its CADless welding solution, ArcLift GO portable welding cobot, and force-control solutions. These technologies are designed to address automation needs across a range of production environments. By presenting technologies spanning next-generation humanoid robots and established industrial and collaborative robot solutions, HD Hyundai Robotics aims to demonstrate its capabilities in responding to diverse automation requirements across industries.
ROBEX 2026 will take place from October 21 to 24 at EXCO in Daegu, in conjunction with the Future Innovation Tech Expo (FIX 2026). This year's exhibition will feature 220 booths from 65 companies, showcasing a broad range of robotics technologies, including industrial robots, cobots, humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), service robots, key components, and automation solutions. At Booth W3-131, HD Hyundai Robotics will present its vision for the convergence of physical AI and robotics, highlighting solutions designed to address a wide range of automation needs in manufacturing.
